Design System Lead

Location: Global/Remote

We are seeking an experienced Senior UX Designer to take ownership of our cross-project Design System. In this role, you will lead efforts to maintain and evolve the design system, ensuring consistency across all digital products. You will be the go-to advocate for best practices in usability, accessibility, and UX/UI design, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that our design solutions meet the highest standards of quality and user experience.

This role requires both a deep understanding of design principles and the ability to act as a mentor and advocate for design consistency, accessibility, and usability across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ownership of the Design System:

  • Maintain, expand, and evolve the design system, ensuring it serves the needs of multiple teams and projects.

  • Create and update reusable UI components, patterns, and documentation to promote consistency across all platforms.

  • Collaborate closely with UI designers, developers, and product teams to ensure seamless integration of the design system into workflows.

• Advocate for Best Practices:

  • Champion user-centered design principles, ensuring best practices for usability, accessibility, and interaction design are embedded throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Advocate for accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) in all digital experiences, ensuring products are inclusive for users of all abilities.

  • Conduct design reviews and provide actionable feedback to ensure alignment with the design system and UX best practices.

• Collaboration & Leadership:

  • Partner with stakeholders to define the strategy and roadmap for the design system.

  • Lead workshops, presentations, and training sessions to promote the adoption of the design system and UX best practices.

  • Act as a mentor to junior designers, guiding them in their professional development and promoting best-in-class design standards.

• Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and technologies related to design systems, usability, and accessibility.

  • Collect feedback from internal teams and users to continually improve the design system and its components.

  • Develop prototypes and test design solutions to ensure they meet user needs and accessibility requirements.

Qualifications/Experience:

• Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.

  • Proven experience in creating and maintaining design systems for complex digital products.

  • Strong knowledge of usability and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA or similar) and experience advocating for their implementation.

• Skills:

  • Expertise Figma

  • Strong understanding of front-end development principles (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) and their role in design systems.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a passion for creating user-friendly, accessible, and scalable design solutions.

• Nice to Have:

  • Experience in mentoring or managing junior designers.

  • Experience with design system tools like Storybook, Zeroheight, or similar platforms.

  • Knowledge of agile and product development processes.
