Intersect, as a non-profit member-based organization, is here to support the evolution of Cardano’s on-chain governance and advance its core infrastructure development through our members and distributed development. This also includes facilitating a budget process to propose to fund a diverse roadmap that matches ecosystem priorities-submitted as governance actions for on-chain approval by ada holders.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Lead to oversee and manage the financial operations of our member-based organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, an in-depth understanding of financial management principles, and a proven track record of leadership in finance roles. This position is integral to ensuring financial health, compliance, and strategic planning for the organization, and in-turn, providing rigorous and transparent finance leadership for the Cardano ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy and Leadership:
Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the organization’s goals.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management for decision-making.
Lead the budgeting process, including planning, preparation, and monitoring.
Accounting and Reporting:
Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger management.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Manage the preparation and filing of tax returns in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Financial Analysis and Risk Management:
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost-saving or revenue enhancement.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure financial health.
Assess financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Compliance and Audit:
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and organization policies.
Coordinate and manage internal and external audits.
Stay updated on changes in tax laws, accounting standards, and financial regulations.
Team Leadership:
Manage and mentor a team of finance and accounting professionals.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
Oversee the development of staff through training and career development opportunities.
Qualifications and experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification required.
A minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
A minimum of 2 years exposure and experience with managing cryptocurrencies and/or digital asset custodians.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Proficiency in financial software (QuickBooks systems).
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Experience in developing and managing budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills
Awareness and knowledge of Cardano or blockchain more generally, combined with technical aptitude.
Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
Experience in [industry-specific knowledge, if applicable].
Familiarity with international accounting standards and multi-currency financial management.
