# Intersect governance

## **The governing board**

Intersect’s initial governing board had five member seats. To establish operations, three board members were appointed with representatives from seed funders and members, with [Input Output](#user-content-fn-1)[^1], Emurgo, and the Chief Operating Officer as interim on the third seat. The third seat was offered as an academic position to Wyoming University’s Blockchain Center of Excellence. The seed funder seats have a three-year term in consideration of funding given, while the academic seat had a one-year tenure.

The remaining two seats were filled from Intersect’s membership, with elections held in October 2024.

Following the 2025 elections, the Intersect governing board now comprises seven members, four of whom were elected by the membership. Among these elected members, two will serve one-year terms while two will serve two-year terms.

This election represented a significant milestone: for the first time, members directly elected a majority of the Intersect governing board.

## **Intersect Professional Staff**

Intersect is staffed by a team of experienced professionals with extensive exposure in the Cardano community.

The Intersect Team is divided in Sectors, each supporting a critical part of Intersect, all Sectors are here to serve Intersect Members and they report to the Executive Director and the Intersect Boar.

## Intersect decision making process

Intersect’s decision-making process provides a structured path for turning members and community ideas and proposals into actionable outcomes through working groups (WGs), Intersect committees, the internal team, and the Board. It ensures clarity, transparency, and appropriate escalation depending on the proposal’s impact level.

This workflow helps us balance:

* Members-driven input and proposals,
* Strategic alignment across governance bodies,
* Timely and effective operational execution.

It is the result of discussions within the Intersect **Governance Working Group and Intersect Steering Committee**, with the goal of streamlining how decisions are made while preserving escalation, review, and transparency mechanisms.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.intersectmbo.org/intersect-knowledge-base/intersect-overview/intersects-structure/intersect-governance.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
